Isabel Wanke, MD
Radiology and neuroradiology specialist
Board-certified in Germany for radiology and neuroradiology, Dr Wanke attended medical school at the University of Cologne, Germany, and undertook postgraduate training and clinical activity in radiology and neuroradiology at the Massachussetts General Hospital in Boston, USA, and the University Hospital of Essen, Germany. Since 2008, Dr Wanke has been professor and chair of interventional neuroradiology at the University of Essen, and has a dual appointment in the neuroradiology division of the Swiss Neuro Institue of Klinik Hirslanden in Zurich. She is active in research on endovascular treatment of neurovascular diseases — in particular intracranial aneurysms — at the University of Essen and is an associate member of CABMM (Center of Applied Biotechnology and Molecular Medicine; IWR – interventional work research group) at the University of Zurich. Dr Wanke is the founder and director of the ESMINT teaching course (European Society of Minimally Invasive Neurological Therapies).
